Life is good.

I had an amazing day.

I woke up early and went off to finish the cleaning job we've been working on for a while. Since I managed to get there earlier than usual, I finished the whole thing by 1pm. Cleaning is very satisfying--I like physical labor sometimes, and I especially like cleaning because you're always leaving something much nicer than what was there before.

Anyway, since I'd just gotten paid for that job, I decided to splurge, and bought myself a lunch of decent cheese (parmesan and fresh mozzarella), a pineapple (on sale for $3!), strawberries, and focaccia (with cheddar and jalapeno). I had a bottle of Reisling my mom bought for me last week that went perfectly with the spread. It was an amazing lunch (although I could have done without the jalapeno in the bread for this particular meal).

And I also got a call from [info]kaykopelli asking if I wanted to go see the Harry Potter movie. I'd already seen it, but I was game! (Especially since I didn't really want to sit at home alone all evening.) And the movie held up pretty well to a second viewing--I'd actually rank it pretty high among the movies of the summer. Not a great movie, but a surprisingly fun one. I never have high expectations of the Harry Potter films, so enjoying this one as much as I did surprises me. Of course, I do have a handful of annoyances, but that's a subject for another post--one that probably won't be written, lazy as I am.

And, since I only ate a fraction of the delicious food I bought, [info]kaykopelli might just come over tomorrow to hang out, etc. So, there's money in my bank account, I have good food and good friends. Life is good.

My quest to watch as many Treasure Island adaptations as humanly possible continues apace, although I'm beginning to believe there may be such a thing as too much Treasure Island. (Gasp!) So, I'm going to save you the trouble of watching all these by telling you all about them behind the cut.

So, that's my adventure so far. I'm coming close to exhausting my resources on Netflix--I'm trying to get Animal Treasure Island, and I'll probably rewatch Muppet Treasure Island and Treasure Planet for completeness, but once I'm done with that, I'm not sure what I'll do. I don't think I'm ready to start in on the realm of bad children's cartoon adaptations, of which there are plenty . . . my soul can only handle so much abuse.

Treasure Island!

Um. So.

I just decided I need to watch as many of the film adaptations of Treasure Island as humanly possible. I'm not entirely sure what brought on the urge. It could be that Muppet Treasure Island was one of my favorite movies growing up, and I also really liked Treasure Planet . . . I dunno. But, dammit, I'm going to do it! Why the heck not?

According to Wikipedia, there are over 50 film adaptations. I'm okay with only seeing the ones on their 'notable' list, but that still leaves a pretty hefty number. (I am particularly excited about the number of Soviet adaptations on there, though I have no idea how I'll get my hands on any of them.) I'm firing up Netflix now!

. . . somehow, I'm thinking it might be a little difficult to accomplish this, but I'm going to give it a go. I will keep you all updated on my progress.

She is . . . online, actually.

So, I finally managed to get to bed around 4:30 this afternoon, and though it took me a little while to get to sleep, the next thing I knew, it was 10:30 and my room was pitch black. (Except for the light from all the little LEDs on my computer . . . and my alarm clock . . . and . . . well, okay, it was fairly dark, anyway.) I rolled over and slept on and off until about an hour ago, when I woke up and couldn't quite get back to sleep. I finally gave up and got online. I had a feeling something like this would happen--I just hope I'll be able to get a little more sleep before tomorrow comes full force.

So, now that I've had . . . what, nine or ten hours of sleep, I'm ready to make some more coherent comments. First, Greece was AWESOME. I mean, totally incredible. And . . . unfortunately, there was a lot more to it than I can fit into a LJ entry. I'm going to have to do this bits and pieces, I think--it's an overwhelming amount of material. But, one way or another, I'll get something up here to tell you about my vacation. What I really want to talk about right now is Star Wars.

I was quite bummed about missing the opening. My calendar was decorated with little stars and hearts and bright yellow highlighting. But, hey, it was Greece, and it was worth it. But, as soon as I got into Denver, my cousin picked me up at the airport, and we got us straight to the theatre, first thing.

Frankly, it seems stupid to give a spoiler warning, because this is STAR WARS, people, but this got kind of long and geeky, so I'll cut it.

And now that I've finished seriously geeking out, I'll go and continue trying to catch up on three weeks worth of webcomics. Which means that I'm actually not finished geeking out. Oh well.

Too bad nobody is ever online at three in the morning.
