I had an amazing day.
I woke up early and went off to finish the cleaning job we've been working on for a while. Since I managed to get there earlier than usual, I finished the whole thing by 1pm. Cleaning is very satisfying--I like physical labor sometimes, and I especially like cleaning because you're always leaving something much nicer than what was there before.
Anyway, since I'd just gotten paid for that job, I decided to splurge, and bought myself a lunch of decent cheese (parmesan and fresh mozzarella), a pineapple (on sale for $3!), strawberries, and focaccia (with cheddar and jalapeno). I had a bottle of Reisling my mom bought for me last week that went perfectly with the spread. It was an amazing lunch (although I could have done without the jalapeno in the bread for this particular meal).
And I also got a call from
kaykopelli asking if I wanted to go see the Harry Potter movie. I'd already seen it, but I was game! (Especially since I didn't really want to sit at home alone all evening.) And the movie held up pretty well to a second viewing--I'd actually rank it pretty high among the movies of the summer. Not a great movie, but a surprisingly fun one. I never have high expectations of the Harry Potter films, so enjoying this one as much as I did surprises me. Of course, I do have a handful of annoyances, but that's a subject for another post--one that probably won't be written, lazy as I am.
And, since I only ate a fraction of the delicious food I bought,
kaykopelli might just come over tomorrow to hang out, etc. So, there's money in my bank account, I have good food and good friends. Life is good.
